Achieve, Belong & Thrive
Pupils Achieve, Belong and Thrive at Westgate Hill Primary Academy
Achieve
At Westgate Hill Primary Academy, achievement is central to our mission. We are committed to ensuring that every pupil, including those from disadvantaged backgrounds, those with special educational needs or those known to Children’s Social Care, reach their full potential both academically, socially and personally. Our curriculum is ambitious, broad, and knowledge-rich, tailored to meet the diverse needs of our pupils, 90%+ of whom are EAL learners, and nearly half are eligible for pupil premium funding. Through high-quality teaching, rigorous assessment, and targeted support, we foster progress and attainment across all year groups. We continuously monitor outcomes to ensure that pupils not only meet but exceed expectations relevant to their starting points, preparing them effectively for the next stages of their education and life beyond school.
Belong
Creating a strong sense of belonging is fundamental to our school culture. We celebrate the rich multicultural and multi-faith backgrounds of our pupils, promoting inclusion, respect, and equality. Our school environment is safe, supportive, and welcoming, where every child feels valued and understood. We actively promote British values, ensuring pupils develop self-knowledge, self-esteem, and respect for others, regardless of faith, ethnicity, or background. This inclusive ethos is reinforced by our pastoral support systems, which help pupils overcome barriers to learning and participation, ensuring they feel connected to the school community. We also place a strong emphasis on attendance, encouraging pupils to come to school every day and fostering a culture where children genuinely enjoy learning and love being part of Westgate Hill.
Thrive
Thriving at Westgate Hill means more than academic success; it encompasses the holistic development of every pupil. We provide enriching opportunities beyond the classroom - such as in arts, sports, and cultural activities - that nurture creativity, resilience, and well-being. Our safeguarding and pastoral care systems are robust, ensuring pupils are safe, supported, and able to flourish emotionally and socially. We work collaboratively with families, external agencies, and partners to address individual needs, enabling pupils to overcome challenges and build the skills necessary for lifelong learning and confident citizenship. This commitment ensures that all pupils, regardless of background, have the foundation to thrive now and in their futures.
