North East Music Hub

Westgate Hill Primary Academy is honoured to be one of only ten primary schools in the North East recognised as a Lead School by the North East Music Hub. This prestigious designation reflects our outstanding practice in delivering high-quality music education and our commitment to fostering a vibrant musical culture within our school and the wider community.

As a Lead School, we play a pivotal role in shaping music education across the region. We welcome visits from other schools in the North East, sharing our expertise and best practises. Additionally, we lead Continuing Professional Development (CPD) sessions, supporting educators in enhancing their musical teaching skills.

The North East Music Hub is a dynamic partnership of eight Local Authorities—Durham, Darlington, Gateshead, Newcastle, North Tyneside, Northumberland, South Tyneside, and Sunderland—working together to provide exceptional music services to children and young people. Funded by Arts Council England, the Hub supports the National Plan for Music Education by creating exciting musical opportunities and ensuring access for all learners.

Through our strong partnerships and leadership, Westgate Hill Primary Academy is proud to contribute to this vibrant regional music community, inspiring a lifelong appreciation and love of music in all our pupils.
