Computing

At Westgate Hill Primary Academy, the teaching of computing is an inclusive journey where every child, irrespective of background or language, becomes a proficient and empowered digital citizen. We aim to prepare our pupils for the future in a world of new and evolving technologies.

We are committed to narrowing the disadvantage gap by ensuring that all pupils have access to the most up-to-date technology. To support us in this journey we provide every pupil from Year 2 onwards with their own individual iPad, and ensure staff are confident in using these devices effectively in teaching.

We enrich children's cultural capital by exposing every child to cutting-edge tools and resources, using technology that includes the latest in robotics and tools such as the Micro:bits, Marty Robots and Spheros. We aspire to cultivate engaged learners who embrace the creative potential of computing and IT, fostering a generation of problem solvers and innovators. 

Through a comprehensive curriculum, we aim to instill not only technical skills but also a deep understanding of responsible and safe online practices.
