Computing
BackAt Westgate Hill Primary Academy, the teaching of computing is an inclusive journey where every child, irrespective of background or language, becomes a proficient and empowered digital citizen. We aim to prepare our pupils for the future in a world of new and evolving technologies.
We are committed to narrowing the disadvantage gap by ensuring that all pupils have access to the most up-to-date technology. To support us in this journey we provide every pupil from Year 2 onwards with their own individual iPad, and ensure staff are confident in using these devices effectively in teaching.
We enrich children's cultural capital by exposing every child to cutting-edge tools and resources, using technology that includes the latest in robotics and tools such as the Micro:bits, Marty Robots and Spheros. We aspire to cultivate engaged learners who embrace the creative potential of computing and IT, fostering a generation of problem solvers and innovators.
Through a comprehensive curriculum, we aim to instill not only technical skills but also a deep understanding of responsible and safe online practices.
Our vision is that of accessibility, creativity, and digital literacy, ensuring that each child not only achieves but thrives in the dynamic landscape of computing education.
